HotHouse Theatre have been working with young film makers in the Gedling area to make DVDs for local community projects for them to use to promote their work, to encourage donations, recruit volunteers, to use as part of the induction process or in anyway that will help the projects fulfill their aims and objectives.
The film makers have had no experience of film making and are between the ages of 8 and 19. They are supported by professional film makers and youth workers to ensure that the client projects get high quality DVDs that are of genuine value to those projects. Here are a few of the finished DVDs.
Rabbit Man
Active Ashfield Torch Relay
A short film made in a weekend by members of the Gedling DVD team. The idea for the film came from the young people and was used to introduce filming and editing techniques and special effects.
A film made for Active Ashfield, Ashfield's sport development project, to record the Beacon Torch Relay. The event was a celebration of people in the district that have achieved in sport or by becoming more active. The film was made for the Active Ashfield Sports Awards 2011.
Knife Crime
Bottle
One of a series of DVDs made by members of the Youth Parliament to highlight the issue of knife crime.
Bottle was made by a couple of young people at Elizabeth House in Arnold as an introduction to the techniques of making films. The idea came form them and the filming was done over a 2 hour period. They were also involved in some of the editing.
Active Ashfield 2008 - 2012
Save the Bonington Theatre
Anither film made for the Active Ashfield Awards 2011. This one celebrates the work of Active Ashfield over the last 4 years and looks forward to the 2012 Olympics.
As the title suggests, this film form part of the campaign to keep the Bonington Theatre open. Young people were involved with filming and conduction interviews.
The campaign was successful and a re-edit of the film will be done shortly to help promote the theatre.
